On Wednesday, after some reflection. They did a program where they went back to their idea of personal development, and they learnt about creating their personal SWOT analysis. They also explored the Johari Window to understand their competencies and personality.
Then they watched some videos that Weere had picked out to inspire some thought.
After some lunch, I got involved in conducting the Value card activity. As a collective group, they were asked to write several different qualities or values on different pieces of paper and then pick their favourite 10. After that, they are asked to narrow it down to 5 and then share their values. They then think about how the values that they have chosen and the perspective that they have with those values connect with those of their friends.
We then spoke about how they can use their values to build a culture within this group, in the classrooms that they teach and how they will use their values to adapt to working with the teachers and parents in the schools that they will teach in. We also explored potential challenges, that would test them in the areas of their personal values.
On Thursday, we completed the values exercise. We then did a visioning exercise where they looked at some pictures in Newspapers and thought about how they connect with their identities, goals and aspirations.
There was some recapping of a few exercises such as the 100-box challenge. A lot of reflective discussion before we wrapped up the week’s training and took a few pictures.
So, there you have it, that was the first week of training. They will celebrate Mahasivarathri and join us again on Monday for another exciting week with Rajeeka and Ramesh. Where I will be parallel planning out their placement and get down to creating a few profiles so that you can get to know our teachers.
