EDUCATION IN CRISIS

Addressing Systemic Educational Barriers

Millions of children in Sri Lanka’s government schools face significant obstacles to educational success. TFSL is dedicated to tackling the systemic issues that contribute to this crisis, ensuring that our most disadvantaged children receive a fair opportunity to thrive.

The Need for Increased Investment

Despite the crucial role education plays in shaping our future, Sri Lanka allocates less than 2% of its GDP to education, significantly lower than the 4.5% average of other middle-income countries. This chronic underfunding, combined with challenges such as generational poverty and economic discrimination, exacerbates the educational disparities faced by many students.

THIS HAS REAL, LONG-TERM IMPLICATIONS FOR OUR NATION’S ABILITY TO INNOVATE, CREATE FUTURE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES AND ADDRESS THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC CRISIS.

WE MUST DO BETTER FOR OUR CHILDREN.
